Abstract

In this study, 165 patients presenting with cholecystolithiasis, managed in Ibn Sina Hospital; Sirte's New polyclinic center underwent outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy during the period from September 2004 to august 2006. A modified selection including both cases of acute and chronic cholecystitis was adopted. Results of this study were comparable to recent studies in most centers. Outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy is successful if the surgery is performed at the beginning of the day and at least six hours postoperative recovery and observation is provided before allowing the patient to return safely home.
